Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, eNKay has led an interesting life. His father is Southern Bulgarian, his mother Northern Latvian. At the age of 11 he moved with his mother to Algeria, Africa, where he attended the French College and learned Arabic and African music styles. As any normal teenager, he was “into music,” and listened to many styles, including pop, rock, folk, and classical. He also grew up with a guitar practically glued to his hands, learning scales, creating While spending a summer in Paris, France he composed his first album, “Jara D’Jara” and recorded it upon returning home to Sofia. Bulgarian folk songs lent inspiration to his unique style. A few years later eNKay presented the world with his second album “Outside Life” just before moving to Canada. From classical flamenco to odd time signatures, eNKay’s signature sound can be traced back to all of his creations past and present – this is what defines eNKay. His diversified approach to songwriting combines features of jazz, pop, and rock into an energetic, punchy sound that will have your head and feet moving. In 2004, eNKay released the CD/DVD single “Take Me” and recorded the soon-to-be-released album, “Beam.” Interestingly, even before the official release of the album, one of the songs “Go For It” won First Place in the International Songwriting Competition in Nashville, with the title track “Beam” placing in the Top 10. |
