On July 12, 2003 Bulgarian-Canadian Society of BC (BCSBC) participated jointly with our member 2003 World Weightlifting Championships in Kaleidoscope – “A World in Our City” at Minoru Park, Richmond. This year was Kaleidoscope’s 5-th year and included events and activities performed to celebrate cultural diversity and promote understanding and harmony between people.
Members of BCSBC participated in the parade, entertainment, cultural arts and booth displays and Kaleidoscope Sports competition where they won the Gold medal. The Bulgarian Community is one of the founders of the Kaleidoscope and is showing a strong support and is participating each year in it.

Bulgarian-Canadian Society of BC is devoted to the preservation and promotion of Bulgarian heritage and culture among individuals of Canadian and Bulgarian descent, and serves as a resource for the exchange of multicultural information. Those interested in Bulgarian roots and heritage can consult our web site www.bcsbc.ca.

In addition, we offer several meetings throughout the year of educational or entertainment nature to our members where the public is always invited.

Membership in the BCSBC is open to any individual or organization with an interest in Bulgarian heritage, history, and culture.

Over the past years, we have made it our objective to gather and maintain a collection of historical and cultural resources available for public access.

We encourage and invite all that may be interested in the Bulgarian culture and heritage or who may be interested in the Bulgarian experience in Canada to join our organization.

Bulgaria is located in Southeastern Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula. It is bounded by Romania on the north, most of the border being marked by the lower Danube River. The Black Sea lies to the east, Turkey and Greece to the south, Macedonia to the southwest, and the Yugoslav republic of Serbia to the west.

Throughout its 13-century history, Bulgaria has played a key role in the region. Its location makes the country a natural bridge between East and West, North and South. The road from London to Calcutta, from Antiquity to Modernity, ran across the Bulgarian lands. Bulgaria’s location makes it a crossroad of cultures and civilizations.
