Dear Friends,

The Bulgarian-Canadian Society of BC announces a competition to see who could create the best logo for the Kanatitza 2023 festival. The selected logo will be used in all printed advertising materials, informational and promotional media, souvenirs and albums, website, and electronic advertising.

The Festival is a three-day event with the participation of numerous folk groups from different parts of North America. Please refer to the attached booklet for more details:

The Kanatitza will be the symbol of unification of the Bulgarian diasporas in North America—the symbol of the wings with which our friends will fly to the western part of the continent.

Kanatitza on the other hand is phonetically close to the name of the country we live in and this makes it memorable for our Canadian audience. The purpose of the competition is to create a concept for a logo (protected graphic sign) for the Kanatitza festival.

The names of the logo artists will be publicly announced.

CANDIDATES MUST SUBMIT:

Festival logo saved in pdf format and vector file (Adobe Illustrator) including:

• Logo – color version
• Logo – black and white version
• Combination of the logo with the reserved font in two versions – in Bulgarian and English.

Each project must be accompanied by the name of the artist(s) involved in its development. Designs can also be accompanied by an explanatory text about the idea and concept of the logo. Each participant can submit no more than two projects.

PROJECT EVALUATION CRITERIA:

• Symbolic meaning of the logo
• Clarity of the graphic image
• Possibility to develop the logo in the overall visual identity system of the festival.

PRIZE:

• First Prize $500
• Incentive prize $100.

The winner of the competition will be offered the design of all visual materials (brand book, North America billboard, souvenirs) with the festival logo. All projects will be presented at an exhibition during the festival – September 21-25, 2023, as well as on the website of the Bulgarian-Canadian Society in British Columbia.

DEADLINES:

The deadline for submitting the projects is until 12:00am on May 1, 2023;
The results of the competition will be officially announced on May 15, 2023.
