For the second consecutive year Canada will mark the National Holiday of Bulgaria with an unforgettable light show and on the night of March 3rd Niagara Falls will be illuminated in white, green and red.

The initiative is an expression of the good partnership between the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Toronto and the Municipality of Niagara Falls, Ontario. For the first time one of the most beautiful natural phenomena in the world was illuminated in the colors of the Bulgarian flag in 2021. The event was broadcast in real time and was watched by more than 600,000 Bulgarians around the world. This year the light show will take place on March 3rd between 10:00pm and 10:15pm EST (ie in Bulgaria it can be seen from 5:00am to 5:15am the next day, March 4th) The organizers of our Consulate General in Toronto again provide the opportunity to watch the show live online on their social network page – https://www.facebook.com/TorontoBulgaria/

As part of the program in marking of the National Holiday in Canada, the Consulate General is organizing several more initiatives in the individual provinces of the country, where iconic buildings and facilities will shine in the colors of the Bulgarian flag:

In the province of British Columbia, the building of the City of Vancouver and the Burrard Street Bridge will be illuminated in the colors of the flag.

For the first time, the Parliament in the provincial capital of Victoria will be lit from 7:00pm local time to midnight (ie from 5:00am to 10:00am on March 4th in Bulgaria).

In the province of Alberta in the colors of the Bulgarian flag on March 3rd from 7:00pm local time until midnight will be illuminated the central bridge in the capital Edmonton – High Level Bridge (Bulgarian time from 4:00am to 9:00am on March 4th). The facility is known as one of the rarest architectural achievements, created in 1980 – with a waterfall that flows from the bridge to the river.

The Bulgarian flag will be raised traditionally in front of Toronto City Hall, Niagara Falls City Hall, Calgary Municipal Building in Alberta, Winnipeg City Hall in Manitoba, Regina City Hall in Saskatchewan, in Kitchener, Ontario, and in the Garden of Friendship at New Westminster City Hall in British Columbia.

All initiatives can be followed on the social media pages of the consulate –
