We would like to invite you to the official opening of the 2022/2023 school year at the Bulgarian Sunday School “Rodna Rech”, on September 17 (Saturday) 2022 at 10 a.m. at Collingwood Neighborhood House. The address is: 5288 Joyce St, Vancouver, BC, V5R 6C9.

The school accepts children over the age of 4 in its preschool group and students from Grade 1 to 12, who wish to enrich their knowledge of the Bulgarian language, learn more about the centuries-old history and authentic folklore of Bulgaria and develop new talents in art.

The school offers courses for exam preparations to candidate-students, whose goal is the admission into the Bulgarian higher education institutions. The courses are in Bulgarian language and literature, history and civilization and geography and economics.

The school is on the list of Bulgarian Schools Abroad and has been approved by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science. It follows the Sunday School Abroad official curriculum while using modern innovative and interactive teaching methods. The students, who have completed the course of studies in Bulgarian language and literature, History and Civilization and Geography and Economics in its parts relating to Bulgaria’s History and Geography, are issued a certificate for the specific grade completed. The document is legitimate in Bulgaria and exempts them from equivalence exams upon return to the Bulgarian educational system.

We offer  3 forms of learning: online, classroom learning, and hybrid – online with face-to-face classes. Children from other cities and countries are also welcome.

The school’s professional team is part of the “Bulgarian Cultural Center in Vancouver” Society and consists of qualified teachers with extensive years of experience.
Our teachers are also qualified by the Department of Language Education at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in teaching Bulgarian language in a foreign language environment and certifying the knowledge of students from Bulgarian Sunday schools. They have also courses completed in Electronic learning design – pedagogical aspects, at the same university.

The classes begin oн 17 September 2022 and include:
– Bulgarian Language and Literature – I can Read and Write
– Geography and History of Bulgaria – I am Bulgarian
– Ethnography and Traditions
– Theatre Workshops
– Music and Choir
– Math Club
– Dance Group “Detelina” with Mrs. Ignatova

“Detelina” dance group is open to the children and youth from all communities who wish to dance without being enrolled as students in the school, with no fees required and by donation only.

The school offers two scholarships:
•    for excellent school achievements, 100% attendance, and participation in all school programs
•    for a child from a family with temporary financial difficulties

The admission and enrollment of the students can be made by completing the electronic form on the school’s website: https://rodnaretch.ca/register/.

The tuition fee for one child is $ 480. The fee can be paid in three equal installments in September, October and November.

The fee for a second child is $ 340 and for a third – $ 170.

Payment is made by cheque to the Bulgarian Cultural Centre of Vancouver Society or by e -transfer to: contact@rodnaretch.ca.
